Heart By Heart at Hempfest

Heart by Heart took the main stage at the 23rd Hempfest at Myrtle Edwards Park on Sunday. You could feel, and smell, the excitement in the air. Total attendance for the weekend was estimated at 250,000. Sunday afternoon at 5 the weather was perfect, and the crowd was packed tightly as far as the eye could see.

After Somar Macek belted out a blazing set that included “Magic Man”, “Alone”, “Crazy On You”, “Mistral Wind”, and “Barracuda”, the crowd would not let the band leave the stage. Led Zeppelin’s “Rock and Roll” was the encore. The crowd was in a frenzy, and guitarist Randy Hansen did something we’ve never seen him do before: he launched his guitar into the air towards the audience.

It was a gift… the ultimate souvenir. Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Bassist Steve Fossen and Drummer Mike Derosier were all smiles afterwards. This show capped off a week of 6 performances that included record breaking attendance at two city festivals. The Taste Of Edmonds and Snoqualmie Railroad days had their largest crowds ever, and the band also played three private gigs for a little airplane company they call Boeing.

Watch the schedule on this website for upcoming shows at The Point Casino, and The Historic Everett Theater. Check out the pictures below. A sample from this wild week. See if you can spot Randy’s flying guitar.
